Become a Friend of Lockerly
Established in 1965 as a nonprofit organization by the Lockerly Arboretum Foundation, the Arboretum is one of Georgia’s most beautiful jewels. Rose Hill, a circa 1852 Greek Revival mansion, is surrounded by 50 acres of tall trees, flowering shrubs, a pond, and walking trails that comprise the Arboretum. We also have an outdoor education center in Putnam County, the Oliver N. Worley Center. The Worley Center is utilized by local Scout troops and is the home of our summer outdoor education camp. In April 2015 Rose Hill was placed on the Georgia Register of Historic Places and we are waiting to be added to the National Register of Historic Places.
The early part of 2015 brought the most significant improvements to the grounds and mansion since the Lockerly Foundation was established in 1965. In addition to installing new air conditioning equipment, making Rose Hill a comfortable year-round venue for weddings, special occasion celebrations, luncheons, and business meetings, we added a handicap accessible public restroom facility and a catering kitchen.
We have added new benefits to our membership levels. All donors receive a Friends of Lockerly membership card which is good for one year from the date of your donation. Lockerly participates in a reciprocal admission program through the American Horticultural Society Reciprocal Admissions Program. The American Horticultural Society’s Reciprocal Admissions Program offers free admission and/or additional benefits at nearly 300 gardens throughout North America and the Cayman Islands.Your Friends of Lockerly membership card is your passport to this program.
